Greeting
Central developments such as the transformation in the mobility sector, the individualization of products and consumer goods, the increasing importance of additive manufacturing or the Internet of Things require far-reaching changes in the production environment. In particular, machining as a key production technology is under increasing pressure to react quickly to these developments in order to remain competitive.
At the Aachen Conference on Machining, renowned experts from industry and research will present innovative approaches and concrete solutions from the field of machining. The conference addresses not only new findings in established fields of development but also completely new concepts for the design and control of tomorrow’s machining production. In addition to increasing process efficiency, these concepts will also serve in particular to ensure transparency, increase the ability to make forecasts and facilitate operability. Practical solutions are demonstrated live on numerous test benches and scientifically processed in lectures. Take advantage of the forum for intensive exchange and discussion with representatives from a wide range of industries and with the experts from WZL and Fraunhofer IPT
I look forward to welcoming you in Aachen!
With kind regards
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Bergs, MBA

Main Topics

Tool Development, Machine and Clamping Systems
The quality and efficiency of a cutting process depends on many influencing factors such as the milling tool, the machine tool and the clamping system. In this session, the latest approaches for optimizing these topics will be presented.

Development of cooling lubricant strategies
In addition to their economic and technological quality, machining processes are increasingly being evaluated on the basis of their ecological balance. Efficient, process-adapted cooling lubrication strategies offer great potential here: We show which ones!

Process design and simulation
A modern tool that is well designed for the process is the ticket to productive machining processes. Current developments of the necessary adjusting screws, such as CAD/CAM systems, process simulations and predictability of component properties are the subject of this program block.

Monitoring and control of machining proceses
Systems for monitoring and controlling machining processes are used, for example, to ensure component quality and optimize tool life. Innovative systems and solutions will be presented in this session.

Digital twin and smart manufacturing
The digital twin in manufacturing is a central vehicle that aggregates, structures and makes usable the available data and information across the manufacturing history of a workpiece. How this vehicle is generated and how the generated data can be used is shown in the contributions of this topic block.

Sustainability in machining
The topic of sustainability in machining is becoming increasingly important. This session will present solutions for analyzing, evaluating and increasing sustainability in manufacturing companies.
